Our Technology Has Surpassed Our Humanity

"It has become appallingly clear that our technology has surpassed our humanity. I hope that someday, our humanity might yet surpass our technology." - Albert Einstein

I have not written much lately, and I perhaps should apologize for that. But, as anyone who has looked around has probably noticed, there is a lot going on right now.  And because I often point this out to people, they tend to steer away from us, avoid us.  I have even come to call myself Buzzkill Baba, since rather than point out all the sweetness and love and light of the world, I point out the pain, the evil, the dark side.  But in light of what occurred to me, I'd like to explain this a bit, not as a rationalization, although to many it may seem that way, but a realization of how this works, and my experience of it.

Let me begin with an often quoted phrase of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj:
"Wisdom is knowing I am nothing, love is knowing I am everything, and between the two my life moves."

I'd like to point out here that this 'knowing' is not just the mental knowing of most, but the actual realization of knowing.  Since 1990, I KNOW that I am nothing.   When one inquires into the Self, they recognize that the individual persona is an illusion – that what each of us is, is Consciousness, boundless, unattached, and thus nothing. But that nothing encompasses Everything. So when you look or see "outside" you recognize that Self is everything, without exception.

Most people are under the delusion that they are only their individual persona. They don't recognize who they are as nothing or consciousness or spirit - in other words that infinite presence of Awareness - nor do they recognize that they are the All.  Oh sure, nearly everyone knows it as knowledge of the mind, but not the direction REAL-ization of it.  So, while someone may speak of compassion,  the direct experience of it is different. The word compassion means to pity or suffer (passion) WITH (com).  This is a very important understanding.  When you directly recognize that you are everything, you suffer and feel all of that as YOU! Since the true you is not an individual, but are nothing or everything, you cannot help but experience that pain and evil and anguish and darkness and death all over the world.  Try to get your mind around THAT1

Let me offer another Einstein quote here:
"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us 'universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

I might add here to his last sentence, "the whole of nature in its beauty" AND it's pain and ugliness. And just so you don't think Einstein was much more of a fuzzy bunny than I, here are two more of his quotes:

"Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal."

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."

Oh  wait, one more:
"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

We are currently under the reign of conspiratorial pathological criminals with the technology to destroy the planet, and are presently doing so.  I am dying. I know this, although most don't want to hear me say it. I can feel it. But the sad truth is, so are you, and I can feel this too.  And for at least 40 years, since the sixties, people have been begging the world to Wake the hell up!  But no one has listened. For the last 20 years, I have been trying to get people to 'spiritually' wake up, but again, very few have listened. So, as we have merrily glided down into our present situation where we are dumping millions of tons of garbage into our waters, the earth, our food, they sky, and even space; animal and plant species are dying off left and right (think of the canary in the mine); and the governments, media, corporations, all all those who control our daily lives, consistently and without exception lie to our faces, without a shred of guilt (definition of pathological); and I feel all this too. And hopefully, more and more of you are at least intellectually waking up to this.

What is the reason?  Ego – that persistent and consistent sense that "I" am an individual and "I" am all that matters (and perhaps those very few around me).  But look again above at what Einstein wrote… "Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature".  The ONLY way to do that is through the Direct Recognition of who/what you truly are. You are not this tiny personality (or at least not only).  You are No Thing, and thus Every Thing. No boundary, no escape from it all.  You are it all. You share it all. As a small focal point of the Great Whole, you experience everything, but choose to avoid it.

One last thing. It is not that it is only horrible.  I can't tell you how beautiful the beauty is! The pure elegance and mystery of a single blade of grass is utterly astounding. Multiply that times billions, and try to imagine the bliss!!  Now imagine that literally evil, dark agents are systematically torturing and killing that at every turn and you feel that too!  Now do you get an idea of who Buzzkill Baba is and why this message of Spiritual Awakening is so important and so painful?   I mean, after all, why wisdom and pain when you can have delusion and comfort?

With deepest Love Always and All Ways.

  1. Good to read another blog, even if it is an ouchy one. These are ouchy times, no sugarcoating it. It is easier for people to be in deep deep denial.
But wow, experiencing everything can be, let's say, overwhelming.
But the sheer beauty in even the littlest things does remind me that Beauty is the deep truth of it.

  2. In the last half of the 20th century it was President Kennedy who took up the gauntlet of outlining a national directive focusing on science and technology. The course that the United States chartered then propelled America into the space age. No longer was man confined to this planet alone. spy phone app
