You Are An Avatar

"We are perceivers. We are an awareness; we are not objects;
we have no solidity. We are boundless."  Don Juan (Carlos Castaneda)

Who are you?  Do you really have any idea?  Most people assume that they are this body, this mind.  But the reality is far different than that.

In the movie, Avatar, Jake Sully had to enter into an atmosphere that was unnatural for him, foreign to him - indeed toxic to him.  The only way he could do that was to put on a suit, an Avatar.  In the photo note that Jake is looking at his own Avatar suit - the body that he will wear, in order to operate on the Pandoran world, having transferred his consciousness into the suit.

The world 'Avatar' is a Sanskrit word, and means to cross (tara) over or down (ava). It generally refers to the various forms of God who descend to the material world for their pastimes - Krishna, Vishnu, etc.

Similarly, YOU are wearing what you might call your Earth-Suit. The REAL you is not this body, is not something solid, but is Consciousness, Awareness, Presence, and for a temporary time only you are wearing this human suit to perform your pastimes within the material sphere.  Some people would say that it is good, others bad. But that's not the point here.  The point is to actually recognize that YOU are distinct from this body and this world. You are, at best, a visitor in this particular realm, where your suit gives you the ability to perceive various energies - sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. Your suit perceives these, interprets them, and transits them to you, the actual perceiver, the Seer.

I recently heard a wonderful analogy (via David Icke) where he describes it as the body being like a computer connected to the matrix of the world and we log in to that computer and the world hologram via the DNA.  But WE are the infinite consciousness.   I love this analogy, as I often feel like I ought to be able to unzip something and slip right out of the body, even in waking state. Of course, it is not that difficult in meditation to let go of the body and recognize the natural state of being consciousness, and the freedom that entails.  If you don't normally recognize that, try it now. Simply recognize/imagine that you are not this body, but that you are aware OF this body, that you are separate from it.  You are separate from the world. The body, however, is NOT separate from the world, but is very much part of the world.

So, here's the Rub!  Your real Is-ness, is not the body. The real YOU is separate from the body and Divine Consciousness. BUT, presently you are in the body in the world.  And there are some VERY bad things going on in the world.  Hopefully I shouldn't have to remind you of any of these, but a very brief list might include:
Chemtrails
Fukushima
Flouride
Surveillance
Government Abuses
Corporate Greed
Patriot Act
National Defense Authorization Act
GMO's
High Fructose Corn Syrup
and on and on....you get the picture.

Vimala Thakar was an activist and the one person that J. Krishnamurti told to teach enlightenment. Her view was that we must incorporate both our activism and our spiritual awakening. In her word:

"In a time when the survival of the human race is in question, to continue with the status quo is to cooperate with insanity, to contribute to chaos. When darkness engulfs the spirit of the people, it is urgent for concerned people to awaken, to rise to revolution..  We have tried in subtle ways to absolve ourselves of any deep responsibility for the condition of the human family. We perceive ourselves, or our small identity groups, as truly sincere and peace-loving, and we ascribe to outsiders, to those apart, to power-hungry villains, responsibility for aggression and wars. Yet as members of societies that are prepared for war, how can we set ourselves apart as peace-loving and the others as violent? This is, however, what we attempt to do. We see on the television or hear on the radio news about massacres and wars taking place in different countries, and we feel how stupid it is to wage war and wonder why the politicians and the statesmen don’t have the wisdom to stop all this nonsense. This is the reaction perhaps of every sensitive citizen of the world. But who wages war? Where are the roots of war? Are they in the minds of a handful of individuals ruling over their respective countries? Or are the roots of war in the systems that we have created and have been living by for centuries - the economic, the political, the administrative, the industrial systems?"
(She has MUCH more to say, and the entire article can be found at http://www.enlightennext.org/magazine/j34/thakar.asp)

So, although our wish may be to live a very comfortable life, to live simply and spiritually, that would be the ideal. However, we can only do that in a state of denial. More and more it is becoming difficult or impossible to live without being affected in someway by the 'Powers That Be', and not in a good way.  I have recently woken up to that fact when we received notification from the County that we were breaking county 'codes', and required an inspection, and our whole lifestyle is now in jeopardy.  But this is not about us at Barnashram, it is about each and every one of us, living here in Earth Suits!  For some reason, good or bad, we are now here. Will we face the dragon fearlessly, or will we try to find our own cave, hoping they won't come knocking at our front door.

"When the Nazis came for the communists,
 I remained silent;
 I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
 I remained silent;
 I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
 I did not speak out;
 I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
 I remained silent;
 I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
 there was no one left to speak out."

        Martin Niemöller

You are an Avatar, a divine spirit in an Earth Suit, here for a short while until the suit breaks down and you, as consciousness, recognize Elsewhere. What will you do in that time?  You do need to recognize who you are, as spirit, as consciousness, but then what. Work on creating the perfect body? Getting the perfect boy or girl friend? Accumulating vast amounts of money? Or will you do something that is of benefit for others, the world?

I Thank You
I Love You
Aja

  1. I've been hearing this stuff for years, but denial kept my eyes closed. I'm starting to understand. .. It's a grim truth, one option only, to wake up fully, to die to who you truly are... and to serve as love....
