Peace in an Instant

While the idea of attaining Peace is always worthwhile, it might be particularly important now, as many seem upset with what is happening in the world.  But peace IS our natural state. We're just not in our natural state.  And being affected by the happenings in the world is the antipathy of finding peace.  You see, what we experience IN the world is simply a projection of our own Consciousness, as Consciousness IS all that there is!

Imagine watching the television, and as you watch, you become enraged by what is happening in your favorite fictional drama. Your favorite character is being harmed by the antagonist on the show. "Why is he doing that? He's going to kill that other guy! Why is he such an asshole!?"   Sadly, it's not totally unheard of for actors to be attacked in real life due to their portrayal of an evil character on a TV show or movie.  But hey, that's entertainment!

But the truth is, this world is also entertainment or more accurately, a distraction.  Everything here is a distraction from Truth. And it's the very reason we have such difficulty finding peace. We're totally immersed in the distraction-entertainment show of the world, and worse, we completely commit our energy into that worldshow.  If you came into your living room, and a family member was watching the TV and was having a total fit, yelling and screaming and crying at something they were watching, hopefully, you'd try to calm them down, and assure them that it's not real, that it's not important, and is merely entertainment, scripted, and everything is still fine.   While most people would immediately calm down, your family member is SO immersed in their illusion, that they continue their own insanity to the point that you fear they could be dangerous to themselves or others.

In the Bhagavad Gita (chapter 2, verse 66) it tells us: "One who is not in transcendental consciousness can have neither a controlled mind nor steady intelligence, without which there is no possibility of peace. And how can there be any happiness without peace?"

But this is the situation for us here - rather than actually seeking peace and transcendental consciousness, we immerse ourselves in the glaring dualities and craziness that are the mainstay of this world.  And here, we are like fish out of water. Thisis not our true home, and we can never truly be happy in this TV-like projection of consciousness until we recognize that we ARE that Conciousness.

Re-paraphrasing my favorite Ashtavakra Gita verse - "If we separate ourselves from the dualistic body mind world, and rest in the shelter of our own Beingness as Consciousness, immediately we will be happy, peaceful and free from bondage!"

As you rest in and remain in that Consciousness, you eventually recognize that YOU are Consciouness and everything you are aware of is also in that Conscioiusness.  The subject/object duality fades into the Single Infinite Consciousness  - the Great Play of Consciousness, also known as Lila - the Play of the Divine.

So the choice is up to you. In fact, it's the only real choice you have - to remain immersed in the artificial 'drama' or to be your True Self as Absolute Consciousness.
